How to Plant a Tree
How To Plant A Tree Steps!
First to begin, dig a hole as deep as the potted plant and 1 ½ times the diameter of the pot (important: make sure the tree is even with the surface when planted!)
After the hole is dug, remove the plant from the pot and plant it to ensure it is level with the ground
Fill in around the plant, and stamp the soil down so that their are no air pockets
When planting native trees, such as oak trees, we DON’T recommend adding mulch to the soil, fill in with the same dirt dug up to make the hole, native dirt!
After the tree is planted, if the trunk is narrow it’s a good idea to add a stake to each side, this helps give support to the tree (make sure to nail in loose so it isn’t too tight)
Lastly build a berm around the tree so that it holds water, and feel free to add mulch on top to keep the roots cool and be able to hold in water, but don’t let mulch pile up too close to the tree trunk!
Make sure to give it gentle watering of about 15 gallons, but don’t let the water spray too hard or it can damage the delicate roots
Also make sure to appreciate your new oak tree!
