Tree Poem

Life is Like a Tree

Rooted in the grounds of society

Branching out in different avenues

Our acorns fall, new life is born

The cycle of humanity continues on

The flow of knowledge enters our roots

The sunlight warms our leaves

And our hearts fill with joy

Like the intertwining of trees

We look for comfort

From Smithsonian Magazine’s Do Trees Talk to Eachother, scientist and forester Peter Wohlleben claims that trees communicate with one another. According to him, discoveries have shown that trees connected through underground fungal networks use these passageways to send distress signals such as when drought is near or during parasite attacks. These networks are called mycorrhizal networks. While this research is still continuing to develop, the idea of trees “talking” with one another is no longer fictional!
