Pax Environmental Science Institute…in the news!
This spring saw the launch of what the Green Valley Project hopes will be an annual hands-on opportunity for local high school students to explore nature: the Pax Environmental Science Institute (PESI), which wrapped up on May 22nd. Each week for eight weeks, scientists from Pax immersed students in some of Ojai’s natural wonders: birds, fish, plants and ecosystems.
Now these young PESI graduates know even more about where they live, and will have the chance to get more deeply involved in repairing our environment, through school, jobs, careers, and in their everyday life through the Green Valley Project.
Speaking of youth taking action, the press release which led to the Ojai Valley News article was written by Adeline Evans, one of the GVP’s Communications Interns this spring. The Communications Internship taught students professional skills as they created and posted images and messages about related GVP topics.
“I am very proud to say that a press release I wrote about the Pax Environmental Science Institute, PESI, was published in the Ojai Valley News,” says Adeline about her experience. “With help from mentors and multiple meetings, I was able to craft this press release, focused on the youth of Ojai making positive environmental impacts right here, right now.”
