So Nice I Did it Twice

“Seeing the transformation from a nameless idea changing to a project inspiring many people to reflect on the issues revolving around our environment made me want to continue.”

This is my second Green Valley Project internship. What motivated me to apply for the first internship with the Green Valley Project was a phone call from my former environmental science teacher, Mr. Lepine. When I first heard about it, it seemed like an amazing opportunity to pursue and learn more about the environmental field. I was so excited to become a part of an inspiring project. Seeing the transformation from a nameless idea changing to a project inspiring many people to reflect on the issues revolving around our environment made me want to continue.

It was amazing to create a project from scratch and being part of the first steps of getting it moving. Noticing the GVP Instagram page go from a blank account to filled with informational posts with many interactions was a touching experience. One of my favorite things about this internship was when we would publish. I enjoyed researching things that I had little knowledge of and learning so much about it that I was able to teach other people about that specific thing. It was very moving to create a post about a topic or an issue that I was passionate about and seeing people react in the same way I did. Participating in this internship definitely helped me become better at managing my time, by dealing with my senior year of high school, a track and field season, religious activities, and trying to include some free time. I look forward to seeing positive changes in our valley. Overall, I feel more connected to our community and willing to take action and raise more awareness of our need to help the planet.
