My Internship Journey
When I first applied for an internship with the Green Valley Project, it was because I felt like I was the only one who was noticing our changing environment. I felt alone in my concern for global warming, climate change and local issues. When I saw an opportunity to meet other like-minded people I jumped at it. Now that the internship has come to an end and I reflect on my experiences, I realize that I could not have been more wrong. There is a huge community of activists and knowledgeable people right in my valley. And they are working every day to improve the health of our local climate. I have learned so much and have met so many wonderful individuals. There are so many fields of study and activism that I didn't realize were right at my fingertips. However, there is also a lot to be done in terms of continuing their work. Our local ecosystems needs us more than I had realized. This is not a job that can be completed in a couple months or even a couple years. This is a life-long commitment to improving the land for our future generations. So what will be coming next for me is a lot more volunteering. But also a lot more fulfillment and fun.
