California milkweed is a type of perennial herb that can grow 3 feet tall and 3 feet wide. It is a summer deciduous plant, and it typically flowers during spring and summer.

This plant requires full sunlight, and has a fast draining system. (Thus it requires proper draining soil and system.) It requires clay soil, as well as sandy soil, however, it requires a low acidic soil level of 6-8. It does not require a lot of irrigation, as you can water the plant 2 times a month. Lastly, it can tolerate cold temperatures as low as 5ºF.
