Arianna Macias: A Dedicated Environmental Steward Fighting for the Health of Ventura County!

Arianna Macias, a member of the GVP Youth Council, is also dedicated to protecting public health in Ventura County with CFROG (Climate First: Replacing Oil & Gas). Her participation in both the Green Valley Project's Youth Council and CFROG's Environmental Voices Academy has established her as an accomplished environmental steward.

CFROG is an environmental non-profit dedicated to protecting public health in Ventura County by advocating for a transition away from oil and gas. The organization monitors oil and gas companies, collects data, advocates for environmental justice, and promotes sustainable energy alternatives to advance its mission.

CFROG further advances its mission through the Environmental Voices Academy, a youth program that empowers young people to advocate for their cities and neighborhoods. The Academy provides hands-on experience in environmental justice, advocacy, and policy, including opportunities to present at City Council meetings to urge cities to adopt their end of oil and gas drilling in California resolution.

CFROG's Academy has successfully influenced two cities to adopt their resolutions! Most recently, the Ojai City Council unanimously passed a resolution to halt oil and gas drilling, making Ojai the second city to do so after Oxnard, which adopted the resolution in May. The Academy will continue presenting their resolution throughout Ventura County, aiming to have it adopted by cities across the County.

As part of the Environmental Voices Academy, Arianna has experienced firsthand the impact of passionate young people advocating for change. She is now inviting all Green Valley Project participants to join her and CFROG in upcoming City Council presentations!

Here's a message from Arianna:

"Hello everyone, it’s Arianna. I hope everyone is having a great summer! I am part of the program CFROG (Climate First: Replacing Oil & Gas). They are dedicated to advocating for California’s transition from fossil fuels to a carbon free economy. Most recently, students in this program have passed their resolution in the Oxnard City Council which called for the end of oil and gas drilling in California while also protects  communities from neighborhood drilling.

If you are interested in helping this cause you can reach out to Abrah Steward who can help you get involved.
