A Lasting Impact Leaves A Legacy
The Crew came to fruition in 1991, spearheaded by Jim Clark and founded by Paul Starbard. The Crew, short for concerned resource and environmental workers, began by teaching teenagers the value of hard work through manual labor, clearing and restoring the Los Padres National Forest for one of its original projects. Although The Crew works dedicatedly to preserve the valley, effects of climate change and pollution have changed it over time, the constant drought being a major side effect that has deeply impacted our natural streams, creeks, rivers, and ponds. The Crew works tirelessly to undo the damage and maintain the Ojai Valley through keeping the trails and valley clear of debris and general potential hazards. Therefore, the youth of today will be the leaders (and the parents) of tomorrow. This initiative is being built to be self-sustaining, through schools and nonprofit partners, and to create a culture of respect and resilience among Ojai Valley communities. This project promotes youth involvement in the preservation and participation in caring for this beautiful valley that could one day be a part of your legacy to the future.
